Thrill of hope

I was a Sunday schooler back in the Philippines at the age of 10 at Abundant Life Ministries and Fellowship which changed to Abundant Life Church and lastly underwent to the umbrella of The Redeem Christian Church of God - City of David in Bacoor, Cavite. I was part of the Sunday School Department as one of the senior teachers and also a member of Hisonly praise and worship team as one of the senior worship leaders.

I love ministering for the Kingdom of God. Before coming to Canada, my top most prayer was to be part of a church where I can continue my ministry. God answered my prayer and gave Slate Church in Waterloo, Ontario. Slate Church started last September 2017 and lead by married pastors, Brandon and Emma Richardson and Luke and Victoria Boettger. I first attended back in April 2018 and I just considered myself as one of the attendees due to studies and work matters. But I still feel the hunger to minister God even if I don’t miss any Sunday services and hearing the word of God.

December 2, 2018, Slate Church had a Christmas production called “A Classic Christmas Thrill of Hope”. I thank God that He gave me the opportunity to be part of it as one of the choir members. It was an awesome and successful event in which all who attended at 11 am, 2 pm, 4 pm and 6 pm were blessed and lots of souls were saved as they accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. And surely, the heaven is rejoicing!

In total, there were 1,200 and more people attended and experienced God’s presence and blessings. The songs that we sang with the choir were Joy to the World, Oh Holy Night, Hark the Herrald Angels Sing, Angels We Have Heard On High and Come All Ye Faithful. Slate Church does not have their own place yet but rather, they are renting at Maxwell’s Concerts and Events and I know God will provide the best building and venue as worship place. The most important is that, 2 or more gathered together, the presence of the Lord will be there.

There were cozy set ups outside the church where people can hang out and make fellowship before and after each production. The big tent had free coffee and tea to everyone, selling some low price Slate Church shirts and other memorabilias and an acoustic band singing Christmas and gospel songs. There was also a space closed by fences with Christmas decors and lights around it. Lastly, food trucks of Beaver Tail and Crazy Canuck Caboose, where you can buy food if your hungry. Aside from maple syrup, Canada is known for their poutine and that was my lunch.

The message was simple but so meaningful. Emmanuel, God is with us. “Whenever you are in low season or high season, always remember that God is always with us” - Luke Boettger. God is the God of impossible and for Him, nothing is impossible. And the service ended with pouring rain that lasted for 30 minutes. For me, that rain was a blessing and a reminder that God always bless us in any aspect of our lives.

If you feel that you are in the low season and need a prayer, send me a prayer request.
